Madre

I actually don�t plan to watch �Madre� because, well, recently this Dewi �Dee� Lestari novel-to-movie adaptation is just way too much. We have seen �Perahu Kertas� part 1 and part 2, �Rectoverso�, and now comes �Madre�. Actually �Madre� is based on a novelet, not a novel. I haven�t read it (actually I barely have read all her works), but I always come up to this conclusion that it takes an extra effort to adapt her works into movies. Because, well, it is not an easy job to describe her ability of word-playing into a visual entertainment. �Perahu Kertas� part 1 is good, �Perahu Kertas� part 2 is okay, �Rectoverso� is below average, and �Madre�... well just read more to know my opinion about it.

This is Park Chan-wook �s debut film in Hollywood. The most popular film from this South Korean director, �Oldboy� , is one of my favorites. However, I can say that compared to �Oldboy� or any other Park�s films, �Stoker� is much tamer. No blood, not even thrills. Supported by great performances from actors like Mia Wasikowska , Matthew Goode , and Nicole Kidman , is it fair to conclude that �Stoker� is not as interesting as �Oldboy�? read more �

After a series of post of 2013 Recap, now we see my choice of anticipated films of 2014. Well, probably you might already be familiar with my taste on movies, so you won�t see blockbuster films like Godzilla , I, Frankenstein , or Robocop which are released this year, in this list. I mean, I might see them but I�m not really excited with them. What I list here is mostly the films I found quite noteworthy to be kept under radar; the kind of movies directed, performed, or produced by people who already showed their quality in their previous works (phew!).
